CasaSpese

Web App / Personal Finance

The Problem: Managing finances as a couple is tricky. Using separate Excel sheets or individual bank apps doesn't provide a clear, shared view of who pays for what, nor does it show the real impact of expenses on the household budget.

The Solution: I built CasaSpese to centralize everything into a single environment. The app allows tracking expenses, categorizing them, and setting custom split ratios (e.g., 50/50, 60/40) to account for different incomes. Each user has a private profile: their own income (salary) is visible only to them, ensuring maximum privacy.

Smart Automations: The system automatically generates recurring expenses (subscriptions, bills, loans) every night and calculates the specific share for each member.

Native Calendar Integration: I developed a custom RFC 5545 generator to create secure iCalendar (.ics) feeds. Through a unique 48-character token, each member can subscribe to the feed on their iPhone, Mac, or Google Calendar and receive personalized reminders (e.g., 1 day before at 9:00 AM) without installing additional apps. The system automatically excludes already paid or auto-debited expenses.

Export & Analytics: Export data to Excel for offline analysis and an interactive dashboard with expense statistics by category.

Tech Stack: Laravel, Livewire, SQLite/MySQL, Docker. Monolithic architecture hosted on a personal Linux server, with no external APIs or OAuth to maximize data security and privacy.
